The Real Effects of The Walking Dead
Ever since the airing of AMC's The Walking Dead, It had spawned thousands of fanbase all over the world. Now that it aired its seventh season, we witnessed the arrival of Negan, as well as the deaths of some of our beloved characters. But behind all those mixed emotions that we felt every time we watched the show, are some concepts that were already changed whenever we hear the word zombies.
1. Everyone's Fear of Death
As a spectator of the Walking Dead myself, one of the factors which made me start Googling or open YouTube is whenever someone dies in the series. I always wanted to see how a character meets a certain demise. Maybe if I would ask this question to a group of ten people who watches the show, maybe five or six would agree with me. But hey, there is a saying goes that "sometimes, we wanted to see something that gives us fear", and that's the reason why there's a horror genre anyway.
The Walking Dead revolves around the struggles of Rick and his team. Obviously if this would become a legit horror story maybe one or two characters might live to tell it. But the different thing about the Walking Dead is that it spawned 7 seasons (7 years to be exact), we had known all the characters so well, that we cried everytime one of them dies. But that's the reality of life everything will die and the worst part is that we're afraid of it.
2. Every Show Needs Bad-asses
Admit it, every show needs saviors that would fight the day for everyone to survive, and when you're in an apocalypse and don't know what to do, its the best time to need the aid of someone who is really good in killing those villainous threats. From shows like Attack on Titan there's Levi Ackerman, with Game of Thrones there's Jon Snow. Of course, on the Walking Dead corner, there's Daryl Dixon, the crossbow shootin' fan favorite.
Daryl Dixon arrived early in season two, and after that everything's changed -- Norman Reedus, the actor who played it, became a huge entertainment household name. Girls dig the guy with the crossbow, no questions asked.
Everytime there's a major event that happened in TWD, from the season 2 escape, to that prison war versus the Governor, chants like "If Daryl Dies We Riot" echoed throughout social media. Of course, Robert Kirkman, despite the fact that the main concept of TWD should go as "Nobody's Safe", they're still here and keeping Daryl alive, since he's loved by fans, and not only that, his character wasn't included in the comic book version of the series, that's why they will never know what future holds for the character.
3. Walkers, Not Zombies
One of the funniest things that I might add is the concept of walkers. We all know that walkers are just plain old zombies which sprung to its victims, and there's no difference between them. Before whenever I hear the word "walker" first things that comes into my mind is either the late Fast and Furious star, or that expensive liquor, but now whenever I hear it, It now reminds me of the undead.
4. It Pissed George A. Romero
As one of the innovators of the zombie franchise, George A. Romero was not impressed with the way the story goes for TWD, George A. Romero was known for films like Dawn of the Dead, Nights of the Living Dead, Land of the Dead etc., and he thinks that the Walking Dead was an insult to his cult classic phenomenon.
